Testimonials

I was referred to Jane by a family friend when I had been going through a very hard time in my life and was finally at the point of breaking from a lifetime of extreme anxiety that I kept hidden from everyone in my life. It wasn’t until I made the decision to call Jane and become her client that my life turned around. It was hands down the best decision I’ve ever made. She not only helped me control my anxiety and self confidence through acupuncture, but also served as a part-time therapist to me too! Her advice on wellness and life truly has made me the best version of myself. She helped me grow into a healthier, happier person and I am forever grateful for her amazing gift!!

Acupuncture. Most children do not what acupuncture is until they are a little bit older. I know what it is. It is a treatment in traditional Chinese medicine. There are certain parts of the body that are points where you can stick small needles through the skin. It is a treatment that is supposed to help illnesses and pain. These illnesses could be headaches, muscle and back pains, anxiety and stress. Acupuncture is also effective for nausea and vomiting and for adults after surgery. Acupuncture works because if you had a drain pipe that was clogged the pipe would be your body and the water would be your Qi or energy flow. The needles will unclog your Qi and let the energy flow. People think it doesn't work because nobody can see energy, so they think it's all crazy. I know this much about acupuncture because I have experienced it myself. I have been treated for allergies and congested lungs. I have been to two different acupuncturists. The first one was Kelly and she was able to clear my lungs but not fix my allergies. We had to leave her. The second one was Jane. She helped me a lot more and had more methods to treat me. She didn't just do needles. She did something called cupping. It's when she would have a lighter then grab a round, glass, cup and quickly place the cup on my back or belly then quickly put the flame inside the cup. It would suck to my skin and she would leave it there for a while. This was supposed to pull the bad stuff out of my body. It left big red circles on my skin. I think acupuncture is very helpful to people who are sick.

Andrew Wyeth's 1948 painting "Christina's World" depicts a young woman with an undiagnosed case of muscular deterioration, who though physically limited, longed for freedom. This is how I felt in January 2011 as I fought with my severe arthritis pain just to get out of bed. The 30-year-old ankle injury had finally gotten so bad that I too longed for freedom -freedom from pain and limited mobility. Western medical advice had proven not to work, and I would not submit to medication as I do not take pills. I needed to find another way. I was reminded of friends advice about acupuncture and I decided to act. As fate would have it, I reached out to Jane Catania and she was able to fit me in@ 1 P.M. that day. I don't subscribe to coincident, and as soon as I hung up the phone I felt great anticipation. Jane has treated me since January on a weekly basis. The change in my condition is hard to describe. It's almost as if I have been given a new lease on life. As many of us who suffer from chronic pain realize, it affects us in many ways-physically, mentally, and emotionally. In addition to the actual procedure, Jane has counseled me on diet, exercise and mind-body connections that have allowed me to relax and focus in ways I have not been able to do since I was a young man. It has given me a new view on my business and personal life that has many commenting on "how much you have changed" - with positive emphasis. This is an unsolicited piece, that I send to those of you who want to be released from the cage that pain has held you in, or if you wish to be helped with other mind-body issues that you have not been able to resolve -see Jane, you will be better for it, of this I can assure you.

Thanks to Dr. Jane Catania, I no longer need to think about seeing an orthopedist for my shoulder. The specific treatment she has done that's geared to the health of my shoulder has unhinged the joint, meaning, I can move it with ease where as before, it had been locked up with pain.

She's focused on overall health. The initial appointment covers every facet of the patient's health and well-being. After that, the appointments are about treatment and whatever is needed. I trust her and her recommendations for what I need when I need it.

I first went to see Jane in April of 2011. My condition was atrocious at the age of 63 as I weighed 210 pounds; I was suffering from knee pain from a torn meniscus and sciatica. My doctor had just put me on blood pressure medicine due to the severe headaches and my blood pressure was 149/110! Being afraid of needles, I avoided acupuncture and only went to see Jane because someone in my book group recommended her and I was desperate.

We started with sciatica and knee pain which disappeared after one treatment! The needles hardly bothered me and I was so amazed that I asked Jane to help me with everything including my weight and blood pressure. She placed seeds and stones behind my ear alternating between them each month. I would go for a "tune up" on a monthly basis.

Now it is a year and a few months later. I have no sciatic pain and the knee pain is manageable! I have lost 45 pounds and walk 2 1/2 miles every morning. My doctor just halved my blood pressure medicine for the next 6 weeks and then is talking about taking me off it. I have more energy than I did 10 years ago and started dating! I am down two dress sizes and am still slowly losing.

I still go for a "tune up" and work on aches and pains that you get at this age. Last month we worked on my shoulders where I have severe arthritis and after the first treatment, my range of movement was greatly improved.

I can't say enough about Jane Catania and the West End Wellness Center. Going there has changed my life so dramatically and has made me so much healthier!!!!
